5DtoRGB Batch App Reviews

Great results

Im using 5DtoRGB to transcode MTS files from hacked GH2 cameras. Transcoding with this applicaiton is slow even on a fast computer. My baseline for comparison is converting AVCHD footage using Cineforms NeoScene as well as the built-in transcoder in Final Cut Pro X. In my experience both of these transcode faster than 5DtoRGB. That said, Im extremely pleased with the results. If your workflow requires that you transcode, edit, and deliver results very quickly it may not be the best choice. If you dont have a tight deadline, however, the results are great. However, it feels like the software should be able to work more quickly. Looking at the Activity Monitor on my 8-core Mac Pro it appears that 5DtoRGB is only using a fraction (~25%) of the available processing power at any given time. In contrast, FCP X seems to use much more of the available processing power when transcoding. As a result Im not clear if the difference in speed is due to higher quality transcoding or a need for better optimization of resources.

Never was able to use it. Chrashes!

It can be very well a good app, I just dont know, I never got to the point to see the results. It always crashes as it starts to transcode. I hope it will be fixed very soon or I just spent $50.00 for nothing.

Crash, Crash and More Crash

This software used to be amazing but now it constantly crashes. Not happy about this!!!

Good Program, Started Crashing

I love this app, I use it to transcode all my footage to ProRes. For some reason its started crashing recently though. I try to start a batch of files and it crashes during the first one. Pretty major problem, hopefully they address this problem.

Very disappointed

After testing the lite version I was excited about this software and ponied up the $50. Now I want a refund because all this version does is crash!!! Ive succesfully converted all of 2 files… DO NOT buy this version of the software if youre expecting it to work.

Good But Slow

5DtoRGB does a great job of converting files, but it still doesnt make use of multi-core processing, so its quite slow. It doesnt seem like a great stretch to me to, for example, automatically divide a batch up and send it to four different converters running simultaneously. Right now, I have to do this manually, by launching four copies of 5Dto RGB at once and guessing how many files to add to each batch.

No Complaints

I use 5DtoRGB to convert MTS footage to ProRes 4444, and it does an excellent job! The software is a little slow, but compared to the old version where you had to load footage in one by one, the batch function is god send. The software simply works, and I would recommend it to anyone looking to properly transcode their footage.

Does not work in Yosemite!!

Does not work in Yosemite, converts files instead of image - green color and small file size

Great but...

This application is great and worth the money. The only problem is when your application has a issue. In my experience I have not been able to find a solution or have I recieved a response after reaching out for assistance. If you do pay for this application and have a issue just know you that it may be hard to fix your problem. Update: Had to uninstall and then reinstall to get to work.
